Linn County names new facilities director

Luke Fischer has been named the new Linn County facilities director.

As facilities director, Mr. Fischer will manage the maintenance and cleaning of county buildings, grounds, and the physical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, card access, security, fire alarm, fire protection, and building automation systems required to operate those facilities. Mr. Fischer also will develop and administer the department budget and supervise facilities employees.

He recently served as facilities director for Cornell College, a position he was promoted to after serving as operations manager and maintenance technician for the college. Prior to those roles, Mr. Fischer was the maintenance director for the Salvation Army in Kansas City. Mr. Fischer is a graduate of Hawkeye Community College and Mount Mercy University.

“I love Linn County and all it has to offer. I look forward to serving its patrons and employees through facilities management, caring for each building’s history, and being a steward of each building’s future,” Mr. Fischer said in a news release.
