Caucho in Cedar Rapids has announced new ownership

Caucho, a Mexican restaurant located in New Bohemia, Cedar Rapids, has announced a shift in ownership after six years of business.

An announcement was posted on Caucho’s Facebook and Instagram pages that Daniel and Armina Lacayo will take over ownership on April 2. The restaurant’s original owners, Carrie and Andy Schumacher, opened Caucho in 2017. This followed the opening of their first restaurant, Cobble Hill, in 2013.

The duo will remain owners of the latter.

“When Daniel & Armina moved to Cedar Rapids, they came with the dream of opening their own restaurant, and they are excited to be a part of the growing Cedar Rapids community,” the post states.

“We are just so happy for these two. Armina has been with Cobble Hill for 7 1/2 years… and while I am saddened to not have the pleasure and honor of working alongside her any longer, I am so happy that Caucho is gaining her and Daniel…and to soon just be GUESTS in THEIR home. The team there will be surrounded by all of the energy and love they will give it. We could not have found better new owners; these two are family.”

The posts on Caucho’s social media accounts are “signed” by the Schumachers, stating:

“When we opened Caucho six years ago, we had also just welcomed our third child into our family, Luna. For several years, we felt like owning two restaurants and having three kiddos was doable, but we realized …particularly through the pandemic…that we could not give the energy and love to everything that we wanted to. Most of all, being our children. But also… everyone at Caucho that also deserves that. Now, we will be able to focus on one restaurant and our beautiful children.”
