Survey seeks input on the design of LightLine Loop

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking community input on the design of key elements in the new LightLine Loop project.

The LightLine Loop project is the implementation of key pieces of the Czech Village/New Bohemia Area Action Plan adopted by the city council in 2019. The space is being reimagined as a vibrant community gathering space. Construction of the LightLine Loop project is planned to begin in spring 2025 with completion anticipated by fall 2026.

The survey is open for public participation until Aug. 18. The five-minute survey seeks residents’ preferences on the look, composition, and amenities of four major parts of the LightLine Loop project: a roundhouse, woonerf (or shared-space street), pedestrian plaza, and gateway signage.

All feedback gathered from the survey will be shared with the project design team as they begin developing concepts for the area later this summer.

In addition to the online survey, a three-day in-person design workshop and accompanying public pin-up sessions will be Aug. 8-10 in Cedar Rapids.
