Occupation: Founder and Owner, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner at Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic

What do you consider your greatest professional accomplishments?Founding and growing the Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic has been a dream come true. In 2013, I also became the second Advanced Fellow in Anti-Aging, Regenerative, and Functional Medicine in the state of Iowa.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you?
I was a competitive gymnast and dancer, and also played the flute.

What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier in your career?
If you are asked to do something and your instant reaction isn’t to say “yes,” you should probably say “no.”

How do you ensure a balance between work and your personal life?
I prefer to think about “fulfillment,” because everyone’s “balance” is technically off, yet their fulfillment may not be. It’s important to spend time in what is most fulfilling for you.

If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support?
Locally I would donate to my church and support the House of Hope in Cedar Rapids. Nationally, I would support research for vaccine safety.

What is the biggest issue facing the Corridor?
Funding for start-up businesses as well as affordable commercial rent.

What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50?
My goal is to expand the Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic to a larger functional medicine clinic with multiple providers offering additional modalities including IV nutritional therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy, and possibly add a Medical Spa.

Who are your local mentors?
Lenchen Raeside, who founded and served as executive director of House of Hope, founded Cedar Rapids Gives, and co-founded Chains Interrupted; and Patrick Flynn, founder of the Wellness Way Clinics.
