Solon park recognized with architecture award

The Iowa Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (IA ASLA) has recognized several landscape architectures throughout Iowa that have made contributions to the profession and communities.

In the Corridor, Cangleska Wakan, a 132-acre park in Solon, won a Merit Award in the Planning & Analysis category from the IA ASLA. Shive-Hattery of Iowa City was the designer.

The awards recognize organizations and individuals who have demonstrated superior skill in the practice and/or study of landscape architecture.

Submitted projects were evaluated on quality of design, functionalism, relationship to context, environmental responsibility and relevance to the profession, the public, and the environment.

Additionally, the Planning & Analysis category was evaluated on effective use, presentation, or programming of landscape architectural techniques and the significant impact landscape architecture had to the environment and/or decision making.
