Ohnward Bank & Trust is expanding its Marion branch at 665 Marion Boulevard, bank officials have announced.

Ohnward is working with architect firm Solum Lang Architects on the design of the building expansion, which will double the branch’s current footprint, according to a news release.

Contractor Rinderknecht Associates will begin construction on the Ohnward Bank expanding in Marion this spring, with opening scheduled in the fall of 2024.

The Marion location will remain open for service throughout construction, and Ohnward Bank leaders said the bank is planning to minimize disruptions to customers

A public groundbreaking event to commemorate the start of construction is planned for Wednesday, April 10, beginning at 9:30 a.m., officials said.

Ohnward Bank & Trust was founded in February 1903 and currently operates six branches in Iowa, including Marion, Cedar Rapids, Monticello, Cascade, Central City and Baldwin. The Marion branch opened in 1988.
