What was your first job? Milking cows on my family farm in Monticello.
Best advice you ever received? Prior proper planning prevents poor profits.
What do you consider your biggest break so far? Getting the opportunity to return back to my hometown and work for an exceptional company after graduating college.Â
What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I had the opportunity to umpire baseball games for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Iowa Cubs in 2006. This was a great opportunity for me and helped me develop into a better umpire. This experience also helped me realize becoming a professional umpire would not be a good fit for me.Â
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Recruiting and retaining quality young employees. We need to continue advertising the quality-of-life benefits of living in the Corridor.
If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? Reinvest it into my community. I would split it between Sacred Heart Catholic School, Camp Courageous, and Monticello Parks & Recreation for the expansion of trails.Â
What are your passions outside of the workplace? Spending time with my family (my wife and I have a daughter, son and yellow lab). We also enjoy traveling. I am grateful to have the opportunity to volunteer for local organizations. Pickleball, golf and softball also keep me active.Â
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? Our generation sees the importance of a work-life balance.Â
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I would like to continue growing with Ohnward Bank & Trust and making a positive difference within my community.
