Jaron Wilde, the Thomas and Margaret Kloet professor of accounting, has been appointed associate dean of undergraduate programs at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, effective Aug. 1.
Mr. Wilde will join the college’s administrative leadership team, overseeing the Undergraduate Program Office. In that role, he will guide the planning, operations and communications supporting admissions, academic advising, financial aid, core curriculum management and student success for Tippie’s roughly 4,500 undergraduates.
“Jaron has established himself as a respected teacher, accomplished scholar, and effective academic leader,” said Amy Kristof-Brown, dean of the college in a statement. “I’m excited about the perspective, experience, and energy he will bring to our administrative leadership team, and I look forward to working with him to build on the strength of our undergraduate programs and the success of our students.”
According to a news release, Mr. Wilde joined the Tippie faculty in 2013 after earning his doctorate in accounting from Texas A&M University. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University and spent four years working in the accounting profession before pursuing his doctoral studies.
At Tippie, Mr. Wilde has taught a wide range of courses, from advanced tax to doctoral seminars. He recently took on Introductory Financial Accounting, a required course for accounting majors that has connected him with nearly half of the college’s current undergraduate population. He has received multiple instructor of the year awards during his tenure.
“His expertise in tax and financial reporting, along with his broad perspective on the student experience, will be valuable assets as he steps into this important leadership position,” Ms. Kristof-Brown said.
Mr. Wilde said he is looking forward to the new role.
“I am honored and excited to take on this new role at Tippie, where I look forward to serving our students, faculty, and staff and to continue building on Tippie’s tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and mentoring,” he said.
Mr. Wilde succeeds Charles Keene, who has moved into a new role as the college’s associate dean for business and community engagement.
