An annual Monopoly tournament benefiting the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Center for Real Estate Education will occur at Embassy Club West in West Des Moines April 24 from 4:30-8 p.m., a news release said.

Since Peoples Company – a full-service land transaction and management business – began the annual tournament more than a decade ago, the tournament has raised more than $70,000 for the Center. All proceeds support innovative curriculum, student activities and the Center’s operating expenses.

“As a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and an advisory board member for the Center for Real Estate Education, I know how well the Center prepares students for a successful career in real estate by immersing them in real-world scenarios and learning opportunities,” said Peoples Company president Steve Bruere. “Peoples Company is proud to host this annual tournament to support the next generation of real estate professionals and we are excited that this year’s tournament has already secured the most sponsorships since the tournament’s inception.”

UNI offers the only undergraduate real estate program in Iowa. According to the university, The UNI David W. Wilson College of Business’ real estate program ranks No. 12 for real estate studies.

Sponsorship opportunities for the tournament and individual students is still available, and registration for players closes April 20.
