TrueNorth Companies, a privately-held risk management and insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids, has announced the launch of a new Community Practice focused on deepening roots with businesses and individuals in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor region.

The Community Practice team includes leader Chad Smeby and strategic development consultants Nikki Wilcox and Abby Scheitlin.

Mr. Smeby and Ms. Wilcox are new to TrueNorth, while Ms. Scheitlin began working for the company as a benefits consultant in June 2022.

“With this dynamic team of leaders in place, our Community Practice will focus on intentionally engaging and serving businesses – both large and small – right here, in our greater region,” said Stu Haker, TrueNorth executive vice president of risk management, in a release. “We aim to provide regional businesses with the partnership and resources to overcome market challenges and adversity, explore what’s possible and ultimately achieve new heights.”

“Today’s business leaders face the daunting task of balancing financial goals and aspirations against the cost of supporting a healthy and productive workforce,” said Kyle Mertz, TrueNorth executive vice president of benefits. “TrueNorth’s Community Practice provides businesses and individuals with a true connection to all our integrated solutions and advisors, including those with expertise in benefits planning, workforce solutions and more.”

“On our quest to positively impact millions of lives, we approach the next five years with clarity, confidence and curiosity to explore what’s possible,” added True North CEO Jason Smith. “The establishment of our Community Practice demonstrates commitment to our community’s future as a resource, industry leader and partner.”
