Several hospitals in the Corridor have announced executive personnel changes.
Mike Heinrich, who is serving as interim chief executive officer and executive vice president and chief financial officer of Mercy Iowa City, will join UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids as senior vice president/chief financial officer this summer. He succeeds Milt Aunan who retired in May. Iowa Mercy Health Network President and CEO Dave Vellinga has appointed Shane Cerone to replace Mr. Heinrich as interim CEO of Mercy Iowa City.
“We greatly appreciate Mike’s leadership and service to Mercy Iowa City over many years, so we extend our best wishes to Mike as he begins his role in Cedar Rapids,” Mr. Vellinga stated in a press release. “We also look forward to Shane’s return to Iowa City and welcoming him to the leadership team, as he will play a key role in helping advance our healing ministry and continue Mercy Iowa City’s long tradition of providing excellent health care to the community.”
Mr. Cerone has more than 20 years of leadership experience in health care. Prior to this appointment at Mercy Iowa City, he served as president of Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, and currently serves as chief executive officer of Health Market Solutions. He also previously served in leadership roles at University of Iowa Health Care for more than a decade, and completed his graduate work in hospital and health administration at the University of Iowa.
In his new position, Mr. Heinrich will be responsible for strategic financial planning, treasury and corporate compliance functions for UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids. He’ll provide vision and leadership in financial goal setting including development, interpretation, coordination and administration of the region’s policies on finance, accounting, insurance coverage, internal contracts and auditing.
“We are very excited to have some with Mike’s experience and extensive knowledge of the Corridor joining our senior team.” Ted Townsend, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids, stated in a press release.
Prior to working at Mercy Iowa City, he was director of finance at Proctor Hospital, now part of UnityPoint Health-Peoria.
