Through her day job, freelance writing and volunteer work, Katie Giorgio connects people in the Corridor.

Ms. Giorgio has been the Nonprofit Network Coordinator of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation since May 2008, providing information, learning opportunities, peer support and consultant expertise to nonprofit organizations in the Corridor.

“As a nonprofit professional, Katie Giorgio is the first person that I ask when I am looking for a resource that will benefit the organization that I serve,” stated Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation Executive Director Katie Geiken in her nomination of Ms. Giorgio.

Ms. Giorgio also serves as database assistant for the Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation, entering donation records into the foundation’s software and sending acknowledgement letters, among other duties.

Her freelance writing appears in the Corridor Business Journal, the Gazette, Iowa City Press-Citizen and many other publications.

She also has a strong social media base, connecting with colleagues and sharing information of the area.

Volunteering in her hometown of Cedar Rapids and throughout the Corridor is also important to her. She is involved with the Cedar Rapids Downtown District/Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, CSPS/Legion Arts, Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance, Prairiewoods Ecospirituality Center, St. Matthew Catholic Church and School Parent Association and Xavier High School Alumni Board.

Ms. Giorgio lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Matt, and their children, Tom and Lucy. She has a journalism and mass communication degree from Drake University in Des Moines.
