Just two years after opening, the Dubuque Bank & Trust branch in downtown Cedar Rapids has closed permanently, a company spokesperson confirmed.

The branch closed March 7, said Amy Printz, a communications representative for HTLF Bank, the corporate parent of Dubuque Bank & Trust.

Dubuque Bank & Trust opened its downtown Cedar Rapids branch, at 320 Third St. SE, in February 2022.

Future plans for the building are currently unknown, Ms. Printz said.

The decision to close the branch “was made as part of our efforts to focus our resources on the locations and services that will enable us to better serve our customers,” according to an emailed statement.

“A handful” of employees were impacted by the closing, “and we’re working through other employment options at the bank for some of those employees,” the statement said.

“Business and personal customers can continue to use the company’s online and mobile banking services, remote deposit capture, telephone banking and Customer Care Center,” the statement added. “Customers also may visit one of the other Dubuque Bank & Trust banking centers listed at dubuquebank.com. We continue to operate banking centers in the Dubuque and Des Moines markets.”

The closure came on the heels of Wells Fargo closing its branch banking office in downtown Cedar Rapids March 6. Wells Fargo owns the 150 First Ave. NE location and is “considering future options” for the building, company spokesperson Mike Slusark said.
