What was your biggest break?

I’ve been fortunate to do a lot of out-of-the-box things, but planning and executing the first Rock the Chalk event was probably one of the biggest. It’s not every day your employer says, “Sure, go ahead and close some streets downtown and cover them in chalk art, we’re behind you.”

What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier in your career?

Truly powerful people don’t have to act powerful.

How do you ensure a balance between work and your personal life?

I’ve decided that work-home balance doesn’t mean equal amounts of time in both places. Some days look more like work-home balance and some look more like home-work balance. I just try to be present wherever I am.

What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace?

We work hard for what we are passionate about. Give us a job that suits our skills and the authority to get it done and watch us run.

What is the biggest issue facing the Corridor?

Transportation. I think if we dissect many of the barriers facing individuals in our community, transportation is at the root.
