UnityPoint Health – Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa is expanding its imaging services with a $5 million project to establish an in-house Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) suite.
Construction is set to begin in spring 2025, with projected completion at the end of 2025.
The expansion will include both new construction adjacent to the existing Imaging and Emergency Departments and remodeling of a portion of the current building. The upgraded suite will offer MRI services six days a week, Monday to Saturday, significantly increasing appointment availability for patients.
According to a release, the new space at Jones Regional Medical Center will feature a Siemens Magnetom Altea 1.5 Tesla MRI machine designed for patient comfort. It features a short magnet and multiple flexible coils for high-quality imaging of various body parts, including hands, wrists, shoulders, feet, ankles, and knees. A tiltable head and neck coil enhances comfort for head and neck imaging.
“With the growing demand for MRI services, this new suite will allow us to expand our availability and offer patients high-quality imaging conveniently right here in Anamosa with the same quality images you would receive in larger health care settings,” said imaging manager Lora Hunt. “Our mobile MRI unit has been instrumental, but with availability limited to one full day and two half-days per week, the expansion will provide much-needed access for our patients and health care providers.”
The new in-house location will provide convenient, accessible space for patients and eliminate the need for the mobile MRI services currently offered.
