South Slope Cooperative Communications and Aureon have awarded matching charity grants to the Amana Benefited Fire District and the North Liberty Community Pantry. As announced in a South Slope news release on Thursday, the Aureon Charity Grant Committee allocates funds to support projects that benefit local communities.

The Amana Benefited Fire District will use its $1,000 grant to replace one of its fire hoses that failed during a testing procedure. The hose, which has since been removed from service, is essential for various fire suppression activities in the community. Its replacement is critical for maintaining the department’s operational effectiveness, as stated in the release.

The North Liberty Community Pantry will apply its $500 grant toward replacing outdated laptops used by its special projects coordinator, Saturday pantry shift lead, and marketing and development coordinator. As stated in the release, these upgrades will enhance the efficiency of the office network, allowing the pantry to redirect funds toward purchasing and distributing food rather than covering technology costs.

Previous awardees of South Slope’s matching charity grants include the American Legion Post 537, the North Liberty Library, the Oxford Fire Department, Oxford Vision Committee, Safe Haven of Iowa County, Veterans Memorial in Coralville Committee, the Wishes for Wildlife Foundation, and more.
