On Feb. 3, the city of North Liberty invites the public to participate in its annual Snuggie Crawl. Participants can don their finest sleeved blankets and leave the winter chill behind them as they hop from place to place for refreshments.

The Crawl, sponsored by McGrath Toyota of Iowa City, is part of the city’s Beat the Bitter winter festival, and features activities, food, transportation between venues, additional food and drink specials and a special Snuggie for partygoers. This year’s stops are Tin Roost, Field Day Brewing, Copper Boar, Micky’s, Reds Alehouse and J&A Taphis. Black Diamond Limousine will operate a bus loop that attendees can jump on and off to get from spot to spot safely.

The event is a collaboration between North Liberty and local businesses and is in its sixth year, altogether drawing thousands of attendees — more than 45%from out of town — to bars and restaurants during the annual slow season.

Establishments have the opportunity to show off to locals and visitors and introduce them to new area favorites. Ticket sales from the event will help support Beat the Bitter’s other free winter programming aimed at kids and families, including Fire & Ice, scheduled for Jan. 28, and North Liberty Lights, a nightly display scheduled through February.
