You don’t have to be an expert in real estate or economic development to see that the city of North Liberty is booming.
Drive down any major thoroughfare, and you’ll see signs of progress: wood frames being erected, new concrete being poured, bulldozers and backhoes moving dirt to make way for new construction and signs advertising the next best thing.
It’s become an attractive place to place roots, as testified by recent growth numbers – according to the State Library of Iowa, North Liberty grew 53% between 2010 and 2020.
At the
Centennial Center groundbreaking July 9, city administrator Ryan Heiar said the expansive Centennial Park project will “certainly entice people to move to North Liberty” once it’s completed. But completed or not, people are moving here anyway.
In the past six months, approximately 60 building permits have been pulled for new residential construction, most for subdivisions already in the works. Here’s a list of new housing developments in various forms of completion:
- Greenbelt Trail, located west of North Liberty Road and east of the Arlington Ridge Subdivision, has started construction on phase 1, part 3 of its subdivision. This includes 11 zero lots and four single family lots. When finished, the entire subdivision will encompass 59 acres.
- Buck Moon Villas, located on the northeast corner of Highway 965/Ranshaw Way and North Dubuque Street, is currently preparing the site for construction. The subdivision will include 61 single-unit residence lots and seven townhouse lots on 24 acres when completed.
- Solomon’s Landing, located on Penn Street and North Jones Boulevard, has two sub developments in the works: retirement community North Bend Villas, which includes 49 lots on 11 acres, and The Emory Place, comprising 352 multi-unit residences spread across eight buildings.
- Forevergreen Estates is taking shape, two years after the preliminary plat was approved. The 129 lot subdivision can be found at the northeast corner of West Forevergreen Road and South Kansas Avenue.
Finally, Water Tower Place has recently completed several townhomes. The 11-lot subdivision is located on 41 acres at the west side of North Kansas Avenue and approximately 150 feet south of West Lake Road.
