A grand prize of free rent for one year is up for grabs at NewBo City Market during the second annual Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Summit, presented by Linn Area Credit Union. The Summit takes place on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23. The two-day business development event focuses on networking, building entrepreneurial skills, and developing business ideas.

The Summit consists of two main components spanning two days: Friday is a day of free to attend workshops, and Saturday is the Emerging Entrepreneur Vendor Market where participants compete for a space at the Market, a news release stated.

Friday’s workshops consist of several sessions where entrepreneurs will learn about making their businesses more viable. Topics of these workshops range from, “Business Accounting,” to “Business Banking,” to a “4 Table Marketing Power Hour.” Each of the seminar-style breakout sessions will include presentations and discussions by industry experts.

On Saturday, Emerging Entrepreneur finalists will participate in a Specialty Guest Vendor Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by the Subsequent Pitch Competition. At the end of the day, a panel of judges will evaluate the finalists on several categories such as the day’s sales, merchandising, and their business plan. The winner of the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced, resulting in one entrepreneur earning a space at NewBo City Market rent-free for a year, which is made possible with support from Linn Area Credit Union.

To be entered to win the free rental space, entrepreneurs are required to join both Friday’s workshops and Saturday’s Market and Pitch Competition. The deadline to apply is in one week, on Friday, March 1. Visit the event page to learn more and apply: www.newbocitymarket.org/summit-2024.
