Mercy Medical Center Foundation, Fairfax State Savings Bank announce Giving Tuesday match challenge

The Mercy Medical Center Foundation has announced that Fairfax State Savings Bank will match financial donations in observance of Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.

According to a news release, the Mercy Foundation is marking the kickoff of the hospital’s year-long 125th anniversary celebration by creating a matching gift challenge for Giving Tuesday. All donations received through Dec. 3 on the Mercy Foundation’s Giving Tuesday web page will be matched dollar for dollar by Fairfax State Savings Bank and the Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board up to $62,500 total.

Giving Tuesday is a global philanthropic effort the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Several members of the Mercy Foundation Board have joined forces to match community donations to the Foundation, up to $62,500 in total.

“We were so excited about the good results we saw from Giving Tuesday last year at Mercy that we were inspired to increase our match again this year in hopes that it will garner more support,” said Patrick Slater, president and CEO of Fairfax State Savings Bank.

According to the release, Mr. Slater, his family, and Fairfax State Savings Bank have a long-standing legacy of supporting Mercy, including financial gifts to Hospice of Mercy, HallMar Village, the Family Caregivers Center, the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer, cardiac services and more.

Giving Tuesday donations can be made at www.mercycare.org/giving/tuesday or by check with “Giving Tuesday” included on the memo line. Donations received by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, will qualify for the Fairfax State Savings Bank match. Giving Tuesday gifts may also be designated to specific funds.
