Marion hosting informational session for contractors, developers Feb. 27

The City of Marion is hosting an open house and informational session for area contractors, builders, developers, architects and Realtors.

The event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th St.

Representatives from city departments and the Marion Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) will be on hand to discuss topics that impact those in the building construction industry. Learn about common construction violations, the digital plan review process, updates to stormwater management requirements, changes to the zoning map, possible fee changes, updates to the fire alarm and sprinkler review process and more.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with members of the Marion Community Development Department (Planning and Building Divisions), Water Department, Fire Department, Engineering Department, Chamber of Commerce and MEDCO.

The event will begin with a light breakfast, courtesy of the Marion Chamber, and a welcome at 7:30 a.m. Information booths will be available in a come-and-go format.

A classroom-style session, led by the Building Division, is planned at 7:45 a.m. for those involved in new residential construction.
