In-person payments no longer taken at Cedar Rapids city buildings

Following the success of residents moving to alternate payment methods while city buildings have been closed due to the pandemic, the city of Cedar Rapids payment windows will remain closed when buildings open to the public July 6.

This includes in-person payments at both the City of Cedar Rapids Treasury Office window within City Hall and the Water Administration Building lobby. While utility payments are no longer accepted at these locations, residents can utilize one of the city’s payment options, including:

  • Payment by check or money order using mail. Mail payment to: Cedar Rapids Municipal Utilities, P.O. Box 3255, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-3255
  • Online payment available at cedar-rapids.org/pay_bill_online
  • Drive-up payment drop box available at the Cedar Rapids Water Administration Building (1111 Shaver Road NE, north end of parking lot)
  • Drop box at City Hall, 101 First St. SE, near Second Avenue entrance

Community Pay Stations at designated Hy-Vee Foods and Hy-Vee Drug Stores

At the City Services Center, beginning Tuesday residents can drop off building permit applications, pay for a permit, or pick up permit or site plan applications in-person from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Residents can also continue dropping off paper applications anytime at the drop-box located outside the main entrance.
