Who are your local mentors?

My mom, Deane Watters, Jean Brenneman and Beth Malicki.

What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier in your career?

I wish I had found a professional mentor earlier in my career. I felt like I needed to always rely on my naïve 22-year-old self to make huge decisions and navigate difficult situations on my own.

How do you ensure a balance between work and your personal life?

Being a mom, having a full-time job and running two businesses, balance just doesn’t always exist. What does exist for me is an amazing partner who understands the ebb and flow of being married to someone who is always running a million miles a minute. I am also blessed to work for the Zach Johnson Foundation that cares for its employees and values family above all.

What is the biggest issue facing the Corridor?

There is a tremendous amount of heart and passion in this area, but I think we are often surrounded by people who look and think just like us. I think if we were willing to build genuine relationships beyond our own social circles, a lot of issues around violence and poverty could be solved. I would love to see more people placing less blame and reaching across zip codes to see how we could make a difference.
