The former Melting Bite will be reopening soon – with a new name and at a new location.

The new iteration of the Indian street food eatery, now named Delhicacy, is set to open soon as an “Indian street fusion” restaurant in the former Fuzzy’s Taco Shop building at 921 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, according to the business’ Facebook page.

Signs have already been installed at the new location, and renovations are well under way.

“We are continuing to make progress, and are hoping to soon be able to zero down on an opening date,” reads the most recent Facebook update in early June. “Since we will need to get approvals from various city offices, we do not have a date finalized yet. We are still shooting for the end of June/1st week of July!”

Melting Bite opened its first permanent location at the NewBo City Market in September 2018, after starting as a home-based bakery in 2017.  The NewBo location was closed April 18 in preparation for the move to northeast Cedar Rapids.

The restaurant is owned by Sneh Chopra, who offered this description of the Melting Bite: “The menu offers savory Indian food, focusing on the fare one might find at Indian street food vendors. Our endeavor is to introduce the myriad variety of food Indian cuisine has to offer. Indian Food is much more than curries, and with Melting Bite, our endeavor is to offer to our patrons the ‘never-tried-before’ food experience.”
