BrownWinick Law Firm is expanding into Eastern Iowa with the addition of a Coralville office located at 1101 Fifth St., starting Dec. 5. Founded in 1951 and headquartered in Des Moines, BrownWinick is one of the state’s largest law firms and specializes in employment, labor law, government and regulatory affairs, intellectual property, real estate and more. “Having a presence in Coralville will benefit our existing clients on the eastern side of the state, and it also readily connects us with other area individuals and businesses who could benefit from the levels of expertise and service we provide,” said Sean Moore, managing partner at BrownWinick, in a statement. Samantha Norris, a member attorney and co-chair of BrownWinick’s energy, natural resources and environmental law practice group, will be leading strategic efforts in Eastern Iowa. She is one of several attorneys who have worked remotely in Eastern Iowa to serve clients, but will now work out of a full-service office. “We’ve got the ability to both move quickly and provide our clients with any legal services on any topic they may need,” said Ms. Norris in an interview with the CBJ. “We’re big enough to have expertise in all areas faced by individuals and businesses.” BrownWinick’s expansion motivations stem from a desire to better serve clients, eliminate employee travel time and capitalize on the potential of the region. “[Our clients] encouraged us to come here and have been doing so for a while,” she said. “Overall, what drew us here is the strong economy, the entrepreneurial spirit in the area and the vibrancy in the Corridor. We’ve got a lot of great business relationships here. "We have supported a lot of edtech, medtech and healthcare clients," she continued. "We see a lot of that activity in the Corridor area, so being here made a lot of sense." Other clients from the food and beverage, manufacturin, agribusiness and financial services industries encouraged the firm to expand to Coralville, she said. The firm expects to employ 13-15 attorneys in Eastern Iowa within the next three years, depending upon client demand. Two attorneys — Ms. Norris and Mackensie Graham — along with an administrative assistant will be the first employees at the Coralville location. BrownWinick employs nearly 80 attorneys and approximately 140 total staff members. They offer legal services to clients including publicly traded Fortune 500 companies, family-owned businesses and startups.
