What would most people be surprised to learn about you?
I speak Spanish fluently and spent an entire academic year in Costa Rica during college. This was quite a stretch for someone who had barely left the state and never stepped on an airplane before departing Iowa for nine months.
What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier in your career?
It’s not so much what I did not know, but what I didn’t accept regarding myself – that I was strong and capable of being taken seriously. The skill of building self-confidence is one of the most important in defining a successful career.
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace?
Most my age are hard-working, high achieving professionals. My generation is one that believes in the value of hard work and contributing to our community.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50?
I hope I have been able to guide my children successfully as they grow. I also hope to have grown, together with my business partner Christa Nelson, our company Epiphany into one of the leading strategic marketing and public relations firms in the Corridor.
