Alliant Energy, its charitable foundation, employees and retirees collectively contributed nearly $9.3 million and more than 80,000 volunteer hours to various causes and nonprofits in the communities it serves in 2024.
“The passion Alliant Energy has for customers can be directly seen through the work of our foundation and the volunteerism of our employees,” Alliant Energy Foundation board chair Aimee Davis said in a release. “In 2024, we partnered with food banks to offer programs to combat rural hunger and reached a major milestone in our goal to plant 1 million trees. I’m proud of the creative ways we worked to make things better for the communities we serve.”
The Alliant Energy Foundation’s giving and volunteer efforts focused on four key areas: community safety and engagement, environmental stewardship, workforce readiness, and hunger and housing.
Community safety and engagement: More than $55,000 in safety grants helped first responders in 37 communities upgrade or purchase new equipment. The company also supported community-building initiatives, such as special events and playground construction.
Environmental stewardship: Alliant Energy reached the halfway point in its goal to plant 1 million trees by 2030. Since July 2021, the company has helped plant more than 551,000 trees in Iowa and Wisconsin.
Workforce readiness: More than 100 students received scholarships totaling more than $103,000 to help cover tuition costs and student loans. The company also worked to create accessible career pathways for students.
Hunger and housing: Through the Rural Hunger Initiative, Alliant Energy provided $1 million over two years to address food insecurity in rural Iowa and Wisconsin. The company launched two programs in Iowa—one supporting school pantries and another connecting agricultural partners with food banks to supply fresh proteins like beef and pork.
“Each day, we provide support to critical programs and our partners who work to improve the communities we serve across Iowa and Wisconsin,” said Andy Kitslaar, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “Beyond grant support, our focus on employee volunteerism creates a direct impact on our neighbors. We are proud of the opportunities we provided to serve customers and build stronger communities last year.”
