Iowa 500 FAQs
How were the leaders chosen for this publication?
In order to choose our 500 we:
- Looked for those in top executive-level leadership positions working with the most impactful companies and organizations in Iowa.
- Included leaders representing 14 categories, which we believe reflect the scope of business sectors in our state.
- Considered both privately- and publicly-held companies, as well as nonprofits and economic sectors of city and county operations.
Ultimately, our greatest challenge wasn’t reaching 500 names for our list—it was the difficulty of narrowing it down to only 500. Iowa is bursting at the seams with impactful and inspiring leaders.
Who made the selections?
Our editorial board. This was a joint effort between our two newsrooms, the CBJ and QCBJ.
Can I be considered for next year?
