CR Summer Rally set to boost area cultural venues

Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance

The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance announced a new program Monday morning to spur attendance at area venues looking to rebound from setbacks related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CR Summer Rally campaign, presented by GreenState Credit Union, is designed to encourage people to visit local art museums, concerts, racing events, games, movies, theatres and more over the next ten weeks, helping the venues boost attendance as they continue to recover from the pandemic.

“The arts, culture and entertainment industries were hit hard financially by the pandemic,” Economic Alliance director Doug Neumann said in a release. “We want to help our member businesses in these areas bounce back more quickly. Summer is the perfect time for everyone to rally to help our area venues.”

CR Summer Rally includes 22 members of the Economic Alliance and gives residents an opportunity to enter more than 40 contests to win free tickets to events, ongoing activities or exhibits. Some giveaways will also feature swag from the venues.

Contest entries will be accepted online at www.cedarrapids.org/summerrally, which also includes an interactive “things to do” calendar. Contest entries can also be made via social media at the Economic Alliance’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/crmeconomicalliance or on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crmeconomicalliance/
