Four UnityPoint Health hospitals across Iowa and Wisconsin have received four- or five-star overall quality ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the agency’s 2026 annual hospital quality rankings, according to a news release.
UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, UnityPoint Health – Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa and UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine Hospital in Muscatine each earned four-star designations — a distinction held by fewer than 1,000 hospitals nationwide. UnityPoint Health – Meriter in Madison, Wisconsin, received a five-star rating, which only 12% of participating hospitals achieve.
CMS bases its star ratings on five quality measures: mortality, readmission rates, safety of care, patient experience, and timely and effective care. The ratings are designed to help patients make informed healthcare decisions.
Casey Greene, president of UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids, credited frontline staff for the recognition.
“This recognition is a testament to our providers and team members who go above and beyond every day to provide the highest quality of care to our patients,” Mr. Greene said. “Our team members remain committed to providing expert care and an exceptional experience to every patient we serve.”
UnityPoint Health is headquartered in West Des Moines and operates more than 400 physician clinics, 18 regional and 17 community network hospitals, and a range of other facilities across the Midwest. The health system employs more than 31,000 people.
