The Riverside Drive Pancheros location in Iowa City has reopened following renovations that began last August. The reopening comes as the restaurant approaches its 25th anniversary, as stated in a release from Pancheros.
To mark the occasion, the restaurant will offer $1 burritos for a week, beginning Tuesday, March 18, during its grand reopening event.
Renovations began in August 2024, with a focus on improving customer efficiency, the release notes. Updates include an expanded dining area, a second make-line for online orders, additional parking for pickup orders, and refurbished flooring, walls, tables, and booths.
With a 29.97% digital sales average across its locations, Pancheros has prioritized digital orders by implementing second make-lines in stores nationwide, the release states. These additional lines aim to streamline online orders, reduce wait times, and allow front-of-house staff to serve in-person customers more efficiently.
In addition to physical updates, the Riverside Drive location will introduce Amanda Zamora as its new general manager. Ms. Zamora, a longtime team member, has been with Pancheros for more than a decade, starting as an hourly employee and advancing to management roles, including at the Coralville location, as stated in the release.
“Our brand is rooted in this community, and we could not be more excited to welcome back our loyal customers at Riverside Drive,” said Rodney Anderson, Pancheros president and founder, in the release. “With enhanced systems and operations in place, as well as a new look and feel, we are more prepared than ever to better serve our guests and ultimately offer locals an improved experience at the same location they have been visiting for decades. As we approach 25 years in this community, we look forward to hosting a grand reopening and $1 burrito event on March 18.”
The restaurant reopened for business on March 11. The grand reopening event will take place on Tuesday, March 18, at 11 a.m. The discounted burritos will be available through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 24, or until 1,000 promotional codes have been redeemed.
Customers can claim a $1 burrito by entering the code “DOLLARSIDE” in the Pancheros app. The offer is limited to one burrito per customer.
