Iowa City residents, businesses and organizations will acknowledge climate change through a four-day extravaganza from Sept. 21 to Sept. 24.

On the event’s first day, Big Grove Brewery will kick off Climate Fest with a tour of its new carbon recycling system. With a $37,000 Climate Innovation Grant from the city of Iowa City, their new brewing process uses carbon capture technology and will save the brewery from buying thousands of pounds of CO2.

The Bike Library is hosting a six-mile ride and the Iowa City Public Library Book Mobile will be in attendance to show an interactive climate commitment display.

Individuals can watch Inhabitants: An Indigenous Perspective at FilmScene on Sept. 22, and donations can be made to Red Earth Gardens, a farm that began from the Meskwaki Food Sovereignty Initiative.

On Friday evening, attendees can listen to performances by Yahoo Drummers and Kevin Burt at Wetherby Park. Food will be available from Lunas Tacos and Marcos Grilled Cheese.

The event’s final day will hold Iowa City’s second all-electric vehicle show as part of National Drive Electric Week. People will be able to view different types of electric vehicles, including the city’s electric buses and e-bikes provided by World of Bikes and Pedego.
