Hy-Vee announced Friday, Feb. 16 that it is donating $35,690 to the Caitlin Clark Foundation, in honor of Ms. Clark’s scoring 3,569 career points during the Iowa women’s basketball game against Michigan Feb. 15.

By scoring a career-high 49 points in the Feb. 15 game, Ms. Clark has scored 3,569 points in her college career and is now the high-scoring female basketball player in NCAA Division I history.

Ms. Clark scored 23 points, the second-most points by an Iowa women’s basketball player in a single quarter, in the first to give the Hawkeyes the early 33-22 lead. The Hawkeyes continued to roll through the second quarter, shooting 66.7% from three to go into halftime with a 53-41 lead.

It was more of the same for the Hawkeyes the rest of the way, as Iowa led the entirety of the second half. Michigan went on a seven-point run at the beginning of the third quarter to close the lead to 10 – the closest of the second half. The Hawkeyes finished strong, expanding the lead to 20 by the end of the quarter. Ms. Clark posted 11 points and Kate Martin added nine in the final quarter to secure the win.

The Caitlin Clark Foundation’s mission is to uplift and improve the lives of youth and their communities through education, nutrition, and sport – three pillars Ms. Clark believes were foundational in her success.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see Caitlin reach this historic milestone in her career,” said Matt Nickell, vice president of sports marketing for Hy-Vee, in a release. “Not only is Caitlin an incredible athlete, but she’s also an outstanding example of the fundamentals we try to live out at Hy-Vee – dedication, respect, sincerity and caring. We’re honored to partner with Caitlin and look forward to seeing many more amazing accomplishments from her both on and off the court.”

Earlier this year, Hy-Vee introduced an exclusive limited-time cereal, with 100% of Ms. Clark’s proceeds of the cereal going to the Foundation. The cereal, “Caitlin’s Crunch Time,” is only available at select Iowa stores while supplies last.
