Grand Impact applications open to area nonprofits

Cedar Rapids-area human service nonprofits are invited to apply for 2024’s Grand Impact, a pitch-style event culminating in a $100,000 award for one organization’s visionary project.

The event, presented by The Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids (Downtown Rotary), is made possible by donations of $2,000 from 50 local businesses. Judges will select three area nonprofits to pitch their plans for a signature project in the community, and representatives of those 50 donor businesses will ask questions and vote on the winner.

The Grand Impact event will be held noon April 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Cedar Rapids. The program is open to human service 501(c)(3) organizations that serve Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and Robins.

Grand Impact has previously awarded funding to Matthew 25 (2022) and Together We Achieve (2023). The concept was created in 2021 by Cedar Rapids business leaders: Lura McBride, of Van Meter; James Klein, of Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust; Beth Malicki, of KCRG-TV9; Jason Smith, of TrueNorth Companies; and David Sorg, of OPN Architects.
