Amana Farms launches direct-to-consumer beef sales

The Amana Society has launched Amana Farms Beef, a new locally raised and processed, sustainably farmed, quality beef option for regional consumers.

“When you’re purchasing Amana Farms Beef, you can rest assured that you’re buying beef that was raised right here in Amana using humane and sustainable farming practices,” John McGrath, Amana Farms manager, stated in a release. “All the beef is inspected, packaged and frozen in our facilities, ensuring it meets the Amana standard that many have come to expect.”

“COVID-19’s impact on meat production, supply chain and meat prices was the nudge we needed to launch our new product line,” Jeff Popenhagen, Amana Society chief revenue officer, stated. “It was time for us to take more control of the process and get Amana-raised cattle into the local market.”

“Controlling the entire process allows us to keep our prices steady throughout the year. By leveling the pricing and removing the traditional seasonal spikes, we can offer consumers the ability to make fair and affordable purchases year-round,” Mr. McGrath added.

Consumers can purchase directly through the Amana Farms Beef website. Individuals can choose from pre-determined bundles or create their own to mix and match.

Amana Farms Beef purchases are currently only available for pick-up, with locations at the new Amana Farms Beef offices just south of Amana in Homestead, IA, and Cedar Rapids on Wednesday evenings in the south parking lot of Lindale Mall.
