On Wednesday, June 4, a select group of community leaders received an exclusive tour of North Liberty’s Centennial Park, currently under construction at 1565 St. Andrews Dr. The tour offered a preview of the park’s first phase, which includes the Hy-Vee Center and Amphitheater. The Hy-Vee Center is slated to open this fall and is already accepting bookings for community and private events.
The Hy-Vee Center features a 5,000-square-foot event hall capable of accommodating up to 300 guests seated at round tables, 430 in a theater-style arrangement, or 525 standing. Amenities include banquet tables, 330 chairs, audiovisual equipment, a catering kitchen with bar service and concession windows, two private dressing rooms with bathrooms, a washer, dryer, shower, and both interior and exterior restrooms. The facility also offers free, hard-surface parking for 280 vehicles, with additional grass parking available upon city approval.
Alcohol sales at the venue require individual event licenses from the state, as the city does not hold an annual liquor license for the facility. Alcohol is permitted at amphitheater events only if produced or sponsored by the City of North Liberty. Event organizers may bring in food trucks or vendors at no charge, pending city approval.
The amphitheater’s inaugural season is scheduled for May through September 2026.
Future phases of the project will add a splash pad, wheelchair-accessible playground units, additional restrooms, an open-air pavilion, and an honor garden.
Event reservations for both the indoor event hall and outdoor amphitheater are currently being accepted.
