Biaggi’s has permanently closed its Cedar Rapids location after 25 years of operation, according to an announcement posted Monday morning, June 29 on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The Italian restaurant, at 320 Collins Rd. NE, opened its doors in 2001. It served as a frequent destination for special events, from wedding rehearsal dinners to birthdays and anniversaries.

The Facebook post indicated the decision was made “with a heavy heart.”

“We are incredibly thankful for twenty-five years of support, celebrations and memories shared within these walls,” the post said. “It has truly been an honor to serve this community.”

Refunds are being offered to anyone with an outstanding gift card balance, and gift cards can also be used at any Biaggi’s location.

The post also invited guests to visit the closest Biaggi’s location in Davenport.

Biaggi’s, based in Bloomington, Illinois, continues to operate 14 restaurants in eight states.

The company has closed two other locations – one in Colorado Springs in April, a closure attributed to plumbing and soil erosion issues, and another at Deer Park in Deerfield, Illinois in 2017.
