On Aug. 1, the University of Iowa rolled out a new mobile app designed to keep students connected to academic information and personalized resources throughout their time at the university.
The initial release of the app will be available to incoming students during On Iowa!, the orientation event kicking off on Aug. 18. Key features of the first version include the On Iowa! schedule and a campus map, aiding new students in navigating to various events.
App Features, Developed from Student Feedback:
- Tailored Content: Personalized information based on a student’s academic year, with further customization available to match individual preferences and interests.
- MyUI Integration: Quick access to essential academic details such as advising, course information, financial aid, U-bill, and more through integration with each student’s MyUI account.
- Class Schedule Display: The ability to view class schedules directly on the home screen, with a campus map to assist in locating class buildings.
- Dining Information: Details about campus dining options, including hours, locations, and daily menus.
- Well-being and Safety Resources: Easy access to services supporting well-being and safety, such as Nite Ride, Recreational Services, Student Care and Assistance, Student Health, University Counseling Service, and more.
- Student Success Resources: Connections to resources aiding student success, including writing centers, libraries, the Pomerantz Career Center, the Grad Success Center, and more.
- Continuous Updates: Regular addition of new features and updates based on user feedback.
While the app is available for download by anyone, this version is specifically designed to help students stay on top of academic deadlines and resources.
Future iterations of the app will cater to graduate students, with versions for faculty and staff also being considered.

The University of Iowa app is part of the P3 initiative, funded in fiscal year 2024. The project team will continue to gather user feedback and enhance the app’s features and functionality.
