UnityPoint’s newest PACE Senior Care location, 1450 North Center Point Rd., Hiawatha, is slated to open this upcoming spring, though an exact date has not been specified.

Officials celebrated the upcoming opening with an open house followed the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 22,000-square-foot center, bringing together UnityPoint Health team members, representatives from the City of Hiawatha and Hiawatha Economic Development Corporation.

According to a news release, PACE – a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly – helps eligible seniors age 55 and older live as independently as possible within their own homes. The new Hiawatha location is the fourth PACE Senior Care facility in the state.

PACE Senior Care members work with a team of professionals and have access to a variety of programs to help with all their health care needs, the release states. From home health to rehabilitation, the PACE team coordinates a full range of resources, including primary medical care, specialty visits, medications, medical transportation, therapy and social work.

The center also provides transportation for the participants to and from their home to the center or to other medical appointments they may have in the community.
