SmartphonesPLUS, in partnership with An Enduring Legacy, has announced the launch of Tech for Good, an initiative designed to transform used electronics into funding for nonprofit organizations. The program launches this month with Breakthrough T1D as its first featured nonprofit partner.

Tech for Good brings together SmartphonesPLUS’s expertise in electronics resale and lifecycle management with An Enduring Legacy’s focus on strategic philanthropy. For years, SmartphonesPLUS has helped people unlock the value of their retired devices through secure resale and responsible recycling. With Tech for Good, that same process is now creating a new pathway for giving – allowing participants to donate the value of their devices to philanthropic nonprofit organizations.

“Every day, we work with companies and individuals who have valuable technology sitting unused,” said Chris Hale, Founder and CEO of SmartphonesPLUS. “We saw an opportunity to do more than just recover value – to create a simple, meaningful way for people to give back. Tech for Good is about turning something people already have into something that can truly make a difference.”

Through the program, participants can donate their smartphones, tablets, laptops, watches, and more – and direct the proceeds to a featured nonprofit each month. By selecting the “charity donation” option at checkout on SmartphonesPLUS.com, donors can easily convert idle devices into unrestricted funding for causes they care about. SmartphonesPLUS manages the full process, including logistics, device evaluation, resale or recycling, and secure data erasure, ensuring a seamless and trusted experience.

As the inaugural partner, Breakthrough T1D will receive proceeds generated throughout the month of May to support its mission of advancing research, improving care, and accelerating progress toward a cure for type 1 diabetes. Funds are provided as flexible support, allowing the organization to allocate resources where they are needed most.

“Tech for Good is about making philanthropy more accessible and actionable,” said Emily Zimmon, founder of An Enduring Legacy. “There’s incredible untapped value in unused technology, and this program turns that into meaningful support for nonprofits doing critical work. We’re excited to launch with Breakthrough T1D and help amplify their impact in a way that’s simple for people to participate in.”

In addition to creating new funding opportunities, the program supports environmental sustainability by keeping electronics out of landfills and extending the lifecycle of valuable devices through responsible reuse and recycling.

To participate, individuals and organizations can visit  www.SmartphonesPLUS.com, submit their device details, and select “charity donation” at checkout to support Breakthrough T1D during the month of May.

Tech for Good will continue throughout the year, featuring a new nonprofit partner each month and providing ongoing opportunities to align everyday technology with meaningful impact.
