Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids & East Central Iowa has named Stephanie Hartson as its new president and CEO, the organization announced Sept. 25.
Ms. Hartson, a decade-long veteran of the nonprofit, steps into the role following a successful tenure as interim CEO that began in March.
Joining the organization in 2014, Ms. Hartson has been a key figure in driving its mission of fostering life-changing mentoring relationships. During her time as interim CEO, she led the organization through a period of growth, expanding its reach to serve more children and families across the region. The board cited her experience and dedication to youth empowerment as critical factors in their decision.
“We are thrilled to have Stephanie officially lead Big Brothers Big Sisters as our CEO,” said Pankit Kotecha, president of the Board of Directors. “Her passion for our mission, coupled with her strategic vision and leadership, make her the perfect person to guide us as we continue to deepen our impact. We are confident that under her leadership, the agency will continue to thrive and expand its influence across the region.”
According to a release, the organization says Ms. Hartson’s dedication to mentorship, equity, and cultivating lasting, impactful relationships between youth and mentors has defined her career at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids & East Central Iowa.
As she steps into her new role as president and CEO, Ms. Hartson is focused on guiding the organization into its next phase of growth. Her vision is to expand access to mentorship opportunities, ensuring that more children in the Cedar Rapids and East Central Iowa communities benefit from the life-changing support the program provides.
