
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced Wednesday that Dawnelle Conley has been named the acting district director of the SBA’s Iowa District Office, as stated in a news release.
Ms. Conley was named acting district director following the retirement of former District Director Jayne Armstrong.
Ms. Conley has served as deputy district director of the Iowa District Office since April 2015. In this role, she managed the day-to-day operations of the Iowa District Office, which she will continue to do as acting district director.
She has been with the Iowa SBA since 1984, where she has served as an administrative assistant, minority enterprise development officer, the small business development center project officer, the district office technical representative for the Women’s Business Center, and the lead business opportunity specialist for the District Office.
During her time at the Iowa SBA, Ms. Conley has worked closely with the state’s business community and service providers. As stated in the release, she also assisted minority-owned and small businesses with government contracting opportunities, for which she will continue to play a role in as acting director.
In her new role, Ms. Conley will oversee the SBA’s financial, business counseling, and government contracting programs in Iowa, including a resource partner network of 15 Small Business Development Centers, three SCORE chapters, a Women’s Business Center, and a Veteran’s Business Outreach Center.
