Saucy Focaccia permanently closes all locations

Saucy Focaccia, a Cedar Rapids restaurant once named on the list of Iowa’s Best Burgers according to the Iowa Beef Industry Council, is permanently closing all its locations.

“After 10 years we are devastated to announce the closure of our restaurants, Saucy Focaccia and The Breakfast Bar,” the owners told KCRG in a statement. “The increase in operating costs, in addition to the downturn of the economy, forced this decision. Our business was a family venture and so deeply impacts all of us. We are very proud of what we’ve accomplished over the years. We thank our employees and loyal customers for supporting our business over the years.”

Its breakfast bar location opened in June 2021 at 1950 Blairs Ferry Road.

The Saucy Focaccia Facebook page, website and its accompaning breakfast bar website are all offline.

A sign was posted outside its Fountains Drive NE location thanking its customers for 10 years in business, as reported by Iowa News Now.

Beginning as a food truck in 2013 and then operating out of NewBo City Market in 2014, the restaurant expanded to its Fountains Drive NE location in 2016, according to The Gazette.

By 2020, they opened another location at Westdale Town Center at 2360 Edgewood Road SW. The owners tried closing this location and moving the remaining staff to the Fountains Drive NE site, but it wasn’t enough to save the business.
