Skogman Homes held a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 31 for Prairie Landing, its newest residential development. Located on C Avenue NE, the neighborhood should include 279 residential lots on 80 acres of agricultural land.
The expansion represents Skogman Homes’ first large-scale residential development in Cedar Rapids in almost 20 years according to a release.
“We are very excited to launch this large-scale, diversified residential project,” stated Hunter Skogman, President of Skogman Development Corporation. “Prairie Landing will appeal to a diverse group of home buyers including first-time home buyers, custom home buyers and multi-family buildings. The project will anchor growth for the C Avenue extension area.”
The construction of Prairie Landing will take around 10 years, Mr. Skogman says. They hope to build on somewhere between 15 to 20 lots per year. By the end of the plan, the development should hold 80 five-unit townhomes at the north end and single-family lots at the south end. Each lot’s square footage will range from 1,414 to 2,832.
Skogman Homes is taking reservations now, allowing future homeowners to customize their plans or choose from 30 designs.
