Michele BrockAge: 39

Occupation: Regional fundraising and marketing adviser, AMPERAGE Marketing

Greatest professional achievements: Paraphrasing my internal fundraising mentors at work, Dee Vandeventer and Justin Tolan, we drive throughout the region and see the impact we’ve had through the buildings we’ve helped build via our fundraising consulting with clients’ capital campaigns. These facilities deliver the services of our clients, from caring for patients at hospitals to broadening horizons at libraries. Prior to Amperage, I directed a campaign for a new rural hospital, which continues to grow today. More academically, I was happy to earn my MBA in 2006 while working.

Who are your mentors: Dale and Helen Kueter (parents), fundraising team at Amperage..

Best advice you ever received: Charlie Becker, executive director at Camp Courageous, has a simple, but great mantra: The more that you give, the more that comes back to you.

What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace: I’m at the latter end of Gen X, and for me, having work-life balance is key, which includes being involved in my community.

How do you ensure a balance between work and your personal life: I’m very blessed to have an employer who understands the importance of work-life balance and allows me to work a flexible schedule. Staying available to my clients, I can balance my family’s activities and needs with work meetings and deadlines—setting my schedule as appropriate.

What is your biggest passion? One of my biggest passions is helping nonprofits improve how they communicate their cause and enhance relationships with their donors. It’s a wonderful feeling to see a donor realize his or her gift makes a true impact.
