Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids has entered into a new business agreement with CareView Communications, a provider of integrated virtual care solutions for the health care sector. CareView is based out of Lewisville, Texas, as stated in a release from the solutions provider.
“Mercy Medical Center has a rich tradition of serving its communities with a commitment to high quality healthcare services and compassionate care,” said CareView COO Sandra McRee, in the release. “For over 100 years, their commitment has been first and foremost to their patients, a commitment CareView shares, and we are excited to partner with their team to continue to enhance patient safety and experience.”
As part of the agreement, Mercy Medical Center will implement CareView’s Patient Safety System, which is designed to optimize virtual sitting outcomes. The system uses artificial intelligence and predictive technology, such as Virtual Bed Rails® and Virtual Chair Rails®, to continuously monitor multiple patients from a centralized location. The release states these tools are intended to improve patient safety while reducing sitter costs.
The focus of the initiative is to reduce patient falls, which is a key quality and safety priority for Mercy, as stated in the release.
Mercy Medical Center also has a group purchasing organization (GPO) contract with Vizient, Inc. CareView has established successful relationships with Vizient and works with multiple healthcare systems using Vizient contracts, facilitating integration with Mercy’s existing infrastructure.
As stated in the release, CareView has been dedicated to supporting hospital care teams for over a decade. The company has established partnerships with over 200 hospitals nationwide. Mercy Medical Center, which has served the Eastern Iowa region for 125 years, employs nearly 3,000 people across more than two dozen locations.
