Supervisor Brandy Z. Meisheid has been named chair of the Linn County Board of Supervisors for 2025, while supervisor Kirsten Running-Marquardt has been named vice chair.

The changes come after District 2 supervisor Ben Rogers submitted his letter of resignation from the board, effective April 1. Mr. Rogers, who was named board chair earlier this year, will begin a new position  with UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Foundation.

Ms. Meisheid was serving as the board’s vice chair, but in the wake of Mr. Rogers’ announcement, the board made the change in chair and vice chair this week.

Ms. Meisheid represents District 3. She was elected to the Board of Supervisors during the November 2024 election. She replaced her father, outgoing Supervisor Louis J. Zumbach, who did not seek re-election.

District 3 includes Alburnett, Bertram, Center Point, Central City, Coggon, Lisbon, Mount Vernon, Marion, Palo, Prairieburg, Robins, Springville, Walker, and a large section of unincorporated Linn County.

Ms. Running-Marquardt represents District 1. She was elected to the Board of Supervisors during the November 2022 election. District 1 represents the west side of Cedar Rapids, the cities of Ely, Fairfax, and part of Walford, the village of Western, and unincorporated areas in southern Linn County.
