Coralville-based Innovas Technologies will supply Helios Tube Cleaning System for the Lusail Marina expansion, a major district energy facility in Doha, Qatar.

The Helios Automatic Tube Cleaning System from Innovas Technologies eliminates tube fouling contributing to chilled water plant optimization. The system is proven dependable and the install base has run millions of cycles without any process interruptions. It works
by injecting cleaning balls into the entry point of heat exchanger tubes and collecting them in a trap on the exit part of the heat exchanger. The cleaning balls gently “wipe” the insides
of the tubes clean, eliminating bio scale and preventing deposits from accumulating.

According to a news release, Innovas Technologies is a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of energy efficiency solutions tailored to the university, hospital, industrial, and refining sectors.

Innovas will be working with Marafeq, a Qatari company that is a comprehensive utility provider and leading developer of district cooling in the Middle East.

According to a news release, many modern new cities are being built in the Persian Gulf Region and companies like Marafeq are key to providing utility solutions like air conditioning into the vast commercial building expansion. Specifically, this project will cut energy consumption in Qatar by 10 million kW-hrs annually and reduce their CO2 emissions footprint by 60,000 tons over the next 15 years – equivalent to planting 90,000 trees every year.

“We’re thrilled to have our technology selected to improve energy efficiency at one the world’s premier district cooling company,” said Charles Dirks, president of Innovas Technologies. “The Qatari economy has become home to many of the world’s most advanced sustainability designs, and they have taken the initiative to embrace Innovas’ quality and innovation and recognize the value it brings to them. Our products are completely designed and fabricated in Iowa, and this is a tremendous opportunity to introduce our current and emerging technologies to Qatar and the rest of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council.”

This project paves the way for Innovas to support the growth and technological advance throughout the entire GCC and presents a tremendous opportunity for Innovas Technologies and the State of Iowa.
