Ms. Kamal joined Iowa City Hospice as its executive director in 2015, with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, a Graduate Certificate in public health, and 30 years of nursing experience.

During her tenure, she served on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa (HPCAI), and was active in the palliative care work group focused on standardizing and promoting a home- and community-based palliative care benefit for Iowa Medicaid, according to the release.

Ms. Kamal was instrumental in cementing the affiliation between Iowa City Hospice and VNA of Johnson County, which was made official in May, 2021. Iowa Care Community was developed as the foundational and administrative agency to support both organizations, and advocate for nonprofit home health care in Johnson County and its neighboring counties.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to lead Iowa City Hospice, the VNA of Johnson County, and Iowa Care Community!” said Ms. Kamal, in the release. “I want to thank the Board of Directors for their confidence in me as we continued to innovate and move ahead.”

An interim CEO will be announced soon. Patients, providers, donors, and volunteers can
continue to contact the VNA at 319-337-9686 and Iowa City Hospice at 319-351-5665.

Both Iowa City Hospice and VNA of Johnson County are community-based 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
