IntelliSee awarded AI weapons detection agreement with PEPPM

Coralville-based IntelliSee, an AI risk mitigation platform that improves the capability of existing surveillance cameras, has been awarded a national and California group purchasing agreement for AI-based threat detection with PEPPM.

Starting January 1, the new agreement lets PEPPM members choose to utilize special pricing and terms already arranged by PEPPM for IntelliSee’s AI risk reduction platform.

“Surveillance cameras are everywhere in our schools and across campuses now, but they are typically only used as reactive tools. They show you what happened after the fact, but don’t work proactively to prevent incidents. Now institutions will be able to proactively detect drawn guns in real-time to prevent harm while also detecting common risks like falls, slip hazards, leaks, and more,” said IntelliSee CEO Scott Keplinger. “We’re honored to be PEPPM’s exclusive provider for surveillance-based AI risk mitigation, offering this lifesaving, risk-reducing platform to their network of schools, colleges, and universities.”

IntelliSee integrates seamlessly with current surveillance systems, actively monitoring live camera feeds 24/7/365 to spot threats in real-time. Instant alerts are triggered upon detection, equipping users with the necessary context to swiftly respond and prevent harm. IntelliSee’s AI identifies various risks including drawn weapons, slipping hazards like leaks or spills, individuals who have fallen, trespassers, loiterers, vehicles, and more. It operates without storing footage or utilizing personally identifiable information (PII) or facial recognition, ensuring users remain compliant with regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other privacy considerations.

PEPPM is a cooperative purchasing program for technology that caters to all public organizations, with a focus on K-12 schools and higher education. It guarantees that vendor technology meets local and state procurement rules, simplifying the process for members and eliminating the need for complex and time-consuming RFP procedures.
